Vincent
Irizarry plays mobster son Michael Abruzzi trying to set the family
business back on the legitimate side of the tracks after his father,
Carmine Abruzzi, a big time crime boss, is gunned down in an alley
outside the family
restaurant. He is at odds with his younger brother Sal and the
family lawyer, Andrew Gant, over what to do with an elderly doctor
and his companion Jessica after the shooting. Sal kidnapped the
doctor from the restaurant after their father was shot, and he and
Michael performed an operation, saving the Senior Abruzzi’s life.
Sometime during the
night at home, Carmine mysteriously dies. The doctor confirms th at
Carmine did not die from his wounds, but from a lethal injection of
drugs. This infuriates Sal who believes that the doctor killed his
father, and he insists that Michael, now head of the family as the
oldest son, make an example of the doctor and Jessica. Michael
disagrees with sacrificing them as an answer, vowing to get his
family back on the straight and narrow. Mister Gant advises Michael
that if he refuses to ask for blood, this will show weakness to the
other crime families and open them up for attack. Michael does not
back down, and when Sal goes to take care of the problem himself,
Michael saves Jessica’s and the doctor’s lives.
This is an entertaining
show, and it keeps you guessing who killed Carmine until the very
end. Vincent’s acting here is fresh and energetic, and of course
he plays to the camera so well! I didn’t ever think I would see
him playing a good guy so darn well! A MUST see!
